Dave, Kate Tempest and Stormzy Nominated for Ivor Novello Awards 2020

Dave, Stormzy, Lewis Capaldi and Kate Tempest have all been nominated for this year’s Ivor Novello Awards which is UK’s most prestigious songwriting award. Puza Snigdha reports.

This year, the Ivor Novello Awards with Apple music has recognized a total of 35 individual songwriters for different eight categories for excellence across songs, albums, film, TV and video games.

Kate Tempest and producer Dan Carey have been nominated for the best album ‘The Book Of Traps And Lessons’, as well as Best Contemporary Song for ‘Firesmoke’.

The rapper Dave has also been selected for the best contemporary song with ‘Black’, which is a politically-charged track. Last year he won the Mercury Prize for the album ‘Psychodrama’.

Jimmy Napes has been nominated twice, in the categories for the best musical and lyrical song, for Crown, along with the most performed song category, for ‘Dancing With A Stranger’.

This year, a new category has also been added, the ‘Rising Star Award with Apple Music’.
