Cricketers Who Tested Covid-19 Positive

The World Health Organization reported a record increase in global corona virus cases on Sunday, with the total rising by 183,020 in a 24-hour period. Dipto Paul reports about the cricketers who tested Covid-19 positive so far.

Many International sports personalities are seen affected by the deadly virus and now former and present cricket personalities are also enlisted in the section.

Former  Bangladesh captain Mashrafe 36, a veteran of 36 Tests, 220 ODIs and 54 T20Is tests positive this week, June 20. Becoming an MP, he had actively seen in humanitarian work to combat the Covid-19 health crisis. “Today my Covid-19 results came as positive. Everyone please pray for my quick recovery,” Mortaza wrote on his Facebook page on Saturday evening.

Former Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi has tested positive for Covid-19 which he revealed on last week, June 13. Afridi wrote on twitter, ” I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery.”

Bangladesh national team cricketer Nazmul Islam Opu tested positive and becomes first active cricketer to test positive for COVID-19. Opu came to the limelight for his humanitarian effort to help the people who left stranded due to the coronavirus.

Taufeeq Umar, the Pakistan opener of the mid-2000s, has tested positive for Covid-19. Umar, who represented Pakistan in 44 Tests and 22 ODIs, last played for the country in November 2014 is the first International player for Pakistan who tested positive.

Along with them, Former Bangladesh player Nafees Iqbal, Pakistan’s Zafar Sarfraz, Scotland’s Majid Haq and Solo Nqweni, a South African first-class cricketer also tests positive for Covid-19.
