Cotton Bud & Plastic Straw Ban Set for 2019

We are still fighting the battle to reduce our plastic usage and improvements are being made every day, with many organisations and individuals getting on board with the environmental movement.
Further progress is yet to be made and the outlook is positive, as new statements suggest that cotton buds, plastic drinking straws and other single-use plastics may be banned from sale in England from 2019.
This encouraging news comes as part of the next phase of the nature campaign, which has been fruitful in its aim to drastically reduce the pollution of our rivers and oceans.
Michael Gove, the Defra secretary, commented: “It is only through government, business and the public working together that we will protect our environment for the next generation.”
Who knows – with a consultation taking place later in the year, this ban could take heed in 2019 – we can only hope!
