Corbyn to Back UK's Membership of Customs Union Post-Brexit

The leader of the opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, is set to deliver a speech in which he will be outlining the Labour party’s position when it comes to the economic relationship with the EU once the Brexit happens.
Corbyn is set to announce that Labour will be backing the proposal that after the UK leaves the European Union it will establish a customs union, with the condition that the UK is granted the power to negotiate its own trading deals with countries outside the EU.
He is also expected to inform the public that they will not be backing membership of the single market, dashing some people’s hope of a “Norway model” relationship with the EU post-Brexit.
This announcement is set to put prime minister Theresa May on the spot. There will be an important vote on the subject in the House of Commons later this spring and the government’s position could be greatly challenged by Labour, other parties of the opposition and Conservative rebels backing the UK’s future membership of the customs union.
