Conserving Bangladesh’s legacy in virtual reality

Being a Bangladeshi, how do you feel when you go abroad for study or work, and your foreign friends ask you about your heritage or history but you can just tell them or show them pictures, but can’t show them the place. If I say that now you can show them the rich histories of those archaeological sites of Bangladesh virtually. Will you believe me?

Yes, you heard it right. Intending to present Bangladesh’s rich history and heritage worldwide through modern technology, Virtual Museum Bangladesh (VMB) just launched an app. Anyone can download the app from this link virtualmuseumbd.com and experience the six structures virtually with just a VR headset. If you don’t have any VR headset, then don’t worry because you can also explore each archaeological content on the website as a three-sixty tour without even a VR headset.

The development of this Virtual Museum Bangladesh began in mid-2017. In the meantime, six different archaeological sites had been added to the VMB app as immersive virtual reality content. The archaeological sites are Sixty Dome Mosque in Bagerhat, Chhoto Sona Mosque in Chapainawabganj, Bara Sardar Bari in Sonargaon, 11 Shiva Temple in Jessore, Panam Nagar in Narayanganj, and Kantajew Temple in Dinajpur.

So, now you can show your heritage to your foreign friends; you and your friends can also visit without any journey just through your phone. Go and visit now!
