There’s an infuriating gap between where Chromeo should be and where they end up, both in terms of musical reach and missed opportunity. This is displayed on ‘Head Over Heels’, which somehow manages to sound deft and enchanting while never really satisfying. It’s a bit like having a cool looking car with a bit of a plodding engine. There’s not really much wrong with this record, there are actually some sweet moments, but ultimately it will really only find favour with the core fan base. Sadly destined for the bargain bins, this is an album that just falls short.
