Chris Cornell’s Doctor Sued by His Widow for Misconduct

Vicky Cornell, widow of late singer Chris Cornell sued his doctor Robert Koblin for misconductt, claiming that he was reckless in the way in which he prescribed the anti-anxiety drug Lorazepam.
The litigation says, Dr Robert Koblin and his Beverly Hills office ‘negligently and repeatedly’ prescribed ‘dangerous mind-altering controlled substances to Chris Cornell’ which led him erratic behavior from the Soundgarden frontman before his death in 2017 aged 52.
Cornell is suing for, among other charges, negligence, failure to obtain informed consent and willful misconduct.
Vicky also claims Koblin knew Cornell was an “addiction-prone individual,” because Koblin was referred to Cornell through Cornell’s therapist for substance abuse. Koblin allowed his non-physician staff to write many of Cornell’s prescriptions while unsupervised.
“We’re just still taking our time and giving ourselves space to process everything. We would certainly love to try to continue to do something, figure out something to do together,” the surviving members of Soundgarden said in a interview.
Vicky says Cornell’s behavior during his final concert shows the effect the drugs were having.
“He was off-pitch, he forgot words, he walked offstage,” she said.
“Chris Cornell didn’t do those kinds of things.”
Asked if she believed Cornell knew what he was doing at the time of his death, she said, “I don’t think he could make any decisions because of the level of impairment.”
