Chitchat with Rokon Emon

Rokon Emon, the Singer, Music Producer, Director, Composer, Guitarist and also ex-member of Chirkutt band, recently has released a song on the subject of Covid19 front liners Doctors, with three more artists. Puza Snigdha spoke to him about his life and how he is passing his days during the current climate.

The artist grown up in Dhaka with his family where music was in the air! Both his father and mother had a strong passion for music, which is how Rokon Emon got his love for music at a very early age.

He started to learn Rabindra-shanget from his childhood when he was not even able to understand the whole meaning of the song. He took guitar on hand when he was at class 10, and fell in love with the bands like Renesa, Warfaze, Miles, LRB and more which made do fusion music.

“I love to do fusion but keeping the basic covered. I never perverted the original music,” said the singer when he asked which types of songs he enjoys most! He tries to fill-up the emotional expectations of his audience through his music.

As this pandemic situation is not allowing anyone to go out so he is passing most of his time at his home studio and giving time to his family as much as he can. His first song about Covid-19 was released back in April and the lyrics was written by Shiffat Shahriar. After that Rokon Emon teamed up with Bappa Mazumder, Pinto Ghosh and Shukonna Mazumder Ghosh for releasing another song to show respect to the front liner doctors who are serving to the people even in this pandemic situation.

Currently, he is busy with his upcoming music album “Notice Board” which contains a total of 9 tracks and 1 track “Manush” is already live on his YouTube channel.

Rokon Emon is very much conscious about our culture so he never mixes it up with others.

According to him, people are running after getting viral so government should set a few rules so that our culture doesn’t get spoiled. Songs like “Oporadhi” may give a listener a moment of enjoyment but it can’t be called a Bangladeshi song.

Rokon’s advice for any newcomers is: “try to feel the music, feel the lyrics and the song. Don’t do music for becoming famous or viral. If you are good then success will come after you.”

The last thing he said to conclude the chat, “Respect your culture”.

The live conversation is coming soon, keep eye on our YouTube channel for more!
