Celebs Share Reactions To ‘Hamilton’

The hit musical ‘Hamilton’ hit Disney+ this month, and celebs have been sharing their mixed reactions online. Tara Pilkington reports.

The musical, which is available on the popular streaming platform, was written, composed by and starring Lin-Manuel Miranda. It is set in the late 1700s and tells the story of one of America’s lesser-known Founding Fathers, Alexander Hamilton. It focuses on his legacy during a time when the new nation was wrought with slavery, social inequity and civil unrest.

The online release of Hamilton has opened up an important discussion around representation during a time where this subject is at the forefront of everyones mind.

Here are some examples on how celebs have reacted to the online release of Hamilton:

Frozen actor Josh Gad called the show “magical” and “pure genius”:

New York Times best-selling author and social commentator Roxane Gay, commented on the impressive performances by the actors, however she also pointed out some issues she has with the way the show “idealises” America’s founding fathers:
