Cardi B to star in Bernie Sanders presidential campaign video

By Amara Iqbal
Bernie Sanders has announced that he will be joining rapper Cardi B to film a 2020 presidential campaign video, appealing to young voters and addressing issues including student debt, climate change and minimum wage.
“We working on a way to involve more young people in the political process,” Bernie Sanders, the independent senator from Vermont, told CNN when arriving in a Detroit nail salon for a video shoot with Cardi B.
“The future of America depends on young people. They are voting in large numbers, but not large enough numbers,” he added.
In the first collaboration between the duo, Sanders and Cardi B spoke about issues including student debt, climate change and minimum wage, before filming at TEN Nail Bar, which is a local nail salon owned by two black women.
Later Cardi B thanked Sanders in an Instagram post for discussing and sharing plans on ways to change the country, stating how ‘he will fight for economic, racial, and social justice for all’.
She further publicised that her meeting with Sanders was a way for her social media followers to ask him questions, adding: “A couple of weeks ago I asked my followers if you had the opportunity to have a question answered by a democratic candidate what would it be.”

It would seem that Cardi B has become more involved in politics as she has made numerous political statements during this month, including posting a picture of Ilhan Omar, with the caption: ‘You know you that bitch when you cause all this conversation ??‍♀️’. She has had a mixed response after this post where her fans have either supported her or told her ‘to stay out of politics’.

A few weeks back Cardi B tweeted about how sad she was by letting Bernie Sanders down in 2016.

Last week Sanders told Jimmy Kimmel that he had on several occasions spoken to the rapper over the phone discussing issues. “She is really smart, and she is deeply concerned about what’s happening in this country, Sanders told Kimmel, adding: “She wants to make sure we improve life for working people in this country, and I’m delighted that she is a supporter.”
When CNN asked Sanders what it means to have Cardi B’s endorsement, he said: “What it means is that, what Cardi B does is not only is she an enormously popular entertainer what she is doing is speaking to young people about the important issues that are on their minds and I applaud that very much.”
