In number, sex workers are many more than we may guess

According to a study about Canadian sex workers, the majority of them are only active and bigger inactive. The scholarly journal PLOS One published the findings.

There is relatively little demographic research on the subject of sex work. According to lead researcher Lynn Kennedy, Sex Work Population Project. However, several gov’ts have put into place oppressive and perhaps harmful rules to control the business. Due to closing a few gaps surrounding the way sex is in Canada, this research set out to fill them.

The strategy was for looking at the archived record in the internet advertising area to see scenarios of sex workers. This research is just a challenging demographic thing to investigate. The two key inquiries were: how many persons in Canada engage in sex work? Another one is how long they typically stay in the field.

Kennedy looked over 3.6 million online pages from well-known Canadian classifieds websites. To validate his research he also contacted sex workers. Between November 1, 2014, and December 31, 2016, the websites published.

Increasing the number of prostitutes

The average duration of those promoting sex work was 73 days. Additionally, it looked like sex workers entered and left the field often. 13,575 employees likely to be employed throughout any given week. There were 10,955 to 22,408 active sex workers at any given time.

One out of every ten advertisements reflected more than two workers, which astonished Kennedy. “Cluster analysis demonstrated that certain workers may be part of extremely big ad hoc groupings,” she said. “The employees shown in these might not be aware of their connections to other workers.
