BTS cancels US visit plans amid Grammy's postponement

Famous K-pop band BTS has canceled their plans to return to the United States after the Grammys Awards 2022 date has been postponed.

  • BTS’ agency Big Hit Music made a statement to the press that the K-pop boyband had canceled their plans to return to the US to attend the Grammys. Soon after, the Recording Academy announced that the Grammy Awards date had been delayed due to the spread of the Omicron variant.
  • ‘We were preparing to attend the Grammys but stopped discussing plans after hearing about the postponement of the ceremony,’ said a spokesperson for Big Hit Music.
  • BTS is currently in an “extended period of rest” after a long since 2019, announced early last month. Their presence at the Grammys would have been their first official activity following the announcement.
  • ‘The period of rest will produce the members of BTS… a chance to get re-inspired and recharge with creative energy,’ Big Hit also mentioned.
  • The company also noted that the boyband would also be preparing for a brand-new album that will start a “new chapter” for the K-pop act.

BTS is up for the Best Pop Duo or Group Performance for their summer single ‘Butter’ to perform at the upcoming Grammys Awards. This is the boyband’s second Grammy nomination, following their 2020 smash hit ‘Dynamite’ at the Grammys Awards 2021.
