Britney Spears breaks silence on documentary: ‘I cried for two weeks’

”Framing Britney Spears” premiered in February and examined the pop superstar’s rise to the summit of the music industry, her treatment at the hands of the tabloid media, her involuntary commitment to a psychiatric ward in 2008, and the subsequent conservatorship (an “imposed power-of-attorney-on-steroids”) given to her father that has had him oversee her finances and personal affairs since 2008.

The 39-year-old singer broke her silence on the film for the first time, admitting she felt “embarrassed” by the contents of the production.

“I didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in,” Spears wrote as part of a lengthy caption on a new Instagram post. “I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes!!!!”

The post’s caption, which was shared on Tuesday evening to Spears’ 29 million Instagram followers, opened with this line: “My life has always been very speculated … watched … and judged really my whole life!!!”

Since the doc debuted, many celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus, Chloe Grace Moretz and more have shared their support for the pop princess.
