Boeing 737 Max May Return in Europe This Summer

Boeing’s 737 Max will be recertified to fly in Europe after getting approval for the plane to fly again is granted, said EU’s air safety watchdog on Tuesday. Puza Snigdha reports.

737 Max aircraft halted after the two fatal crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia caused by a faulty sensor. Following the two crashes, around 346 people lost their lives.

Patrick Ky, executive director of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) told the reports that they will approve 737 Max after they meet conditions specified by the agency.

In order to return to service, existing planes will now have to be equipped with new computer software. EASA required some changes to the 737 Max and it is coming back after those changes. Airlines have trained their pilots in the changes.

“We expect to publish it next week, which means the MAX will be cleared to fly again,” Ky said.

UK will follow EASA’s official green light.

Max has already got clearance from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Brazilian authorities, back in November.

According to Ryanair spokesperson, the newly designed planes will be ready by March or early April, and it will resume it’s service in April.

“Canadians and the airline industry can rest assured that Transport Canada has diligently addressed all safety issues prior to permitting this aircraft to return to service in Canadian airspace,” said Omar Alghabra, Transport Minister.

However, it will be a bit hard to regain the traveler’s trust.
