Creating the history at the 91st Annual Academy Awards ‘Black Panther’ has won the first Oscar of the Marvel Studio which was nominated for a total of 7 awards and takes 3 Academy Awards at home.
Ruth E. Carter’s incredible work on ‘Black Panther’ finally brought the gold to the MCU and Carter’s work has been praised ever since the film hit theaters last February.
“Marvel may have created the first black superhero, but through costume design, we turned him into an African king,” saying this Carter added into her acceptance speech that, “It’s been my life’s honor to create costumes. Thank you to the Academy, and thank you for honoring African royalty and the empowered way women can look and lead on screen.”
Loosing Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing, the film was nominated for Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Picture. And the film has already won ‘Best Costume Design’ and Best Production Design.’
The film received rave critical reviews and rebuked it to become a billion dollar earner at the box office.
Hannah Beachler as the Costume Designer, Jay Hart won the Best Production Design Oscar and Ludwig Göransson for the Best Original Score for ‘Black Panther’.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” took home awards for both sound mixing and best sound editing, and “Green Book” won the Academy Award for best picture.
Beachler, Creed and Beyonce’s Lemonade paid tribute to Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.
