Black in Fashion Council Project is Launched

This new project, launched by Lindsay Peoples Wagner and Sandrine Charles, aims to bring diversity, inclusion, and accountability to the fashion industry.

Following the death of George Floyd and the calls to action across the globe in response to the Black Lives Matter movement, the fashion industry is next in like to address racism within its community.

Most recently, Lindsay Peoples Wagner, editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue, and Sandrine Charles together launched the ‘Black in Fashion Council‘ as one of the main initiatives which aims to bring diversity, inclusion, and accountability to the industry.

In a statement on the Black in Fashion Council’s homepage, it says: “The Black in Fashion Council was founded to represent and secure the advancement of black individuals in the fashion and beauty industry…As a collective, we envision a world in which black people in fashion and beauty spaces can be open and honest, guaranteed equal rights, and be celebrated for our voices.⁣”

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), currently helmed by Tom Ford, is in support of this program.
