BFI London Film Festival Announces It’s 2020 Edition

The 64th BFI London film festival is back with its 2020 edition and will be combining both virtual and physical screenings, reports Anika Khan.

The BFI London Film festival will be hosting over 50 virtual premieres and 12 reviews of upcoming films. The virtual premiers will each be played at a set time and feature Q&A’s and will also have other additional elements this time.

The festival will run a combination of virtual and physical screenings due to the limitations imposed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

London Film Festival will be partnering with BFO Film Audience Network for the physical screenings. The films will be playing at the flagship Southbank site of BFI and a few other selected cinemas around London.

Venues of the physical Screenings are yet to be announced. However, the online launch of the full programmes will be revealed on the 8th of September.

Some of the Genres that the festival will maintain are: Love ,Debate, Laugh, Dare, Thrill, Cult, Journey, Create, Family, Treasures and Experimenta.

The programme will include:

  • Vote on audience awards for best fiction, documentary feature, best short film and best XR.
  •  Free-to-access XR and immersive stand that will be played online
  • A virtual gallery and experience of XR projects
  • Expect more independent and versatile movies from all over the world.
