TikTok is becoming a playroom for beauty and style over the past several years. On the app, many aesthetics, trends, must-have items, knockoffs, and hacks gain popularity practically every day.
According to dermatological and cosmetic chemical specialists, you might wish to avoid the current fad of using colored pencils as eyeliner.
Beauty Experts’ Reactions
Board-certified dermatologist Michelle Henry, MD said, “because of safety concerns you should avoid doing this.”
Dr. Henry explains in detail. “Ingredients not approved for use on theskin or eyes may cause allergic reactions. And also contact dermatitis because of the sensitive nature of the skin around the eyes and lips. Because these areas of the face get easily irritated or inflamed.”
Skincare chemist Kelly Dobos adds, “Risks include eye infections, allergic reactions, and skin irritation that might result in severe injuries.”
Dobos explains again, “Before they get permission for use United States must carry purification screening at labs. These requirements apply to color additives used in cosmetics throughout the world.”
“Some of the substances can be used in lip and eye cosmetics, but not the other way around”, Dobos said.
Even if you choose to check on your own, you would probably be unable to. “We really have no clue what hues got to use. Or what any of the actual components in colored pencils are since. Unlike cosmetics, there are no details on the container”, says Dobos.
So I say, beauty with risky products is not safe at all. We need to justify if they are safe or not. Beauty should not mean to harm anyone.
