Bare-chested XR activists protest in front of the Parliament

Bare-chested Extinction Rebellion Protestors chained themselves to the Parliament gate in order to protest against the British government.

On the last day of the 10-day demonstration, a group of 30 XR protestors went topless with words painted across their body to stand in solidarity against the British government who is paying a deaf ear to the ecological crisis that the world is collectively facing.

Their message was simple. With words like war’ ‘famine and ‘droughts’ written across their bare chest, they want the government to take responsibility for the predicted consequences of climate change.

The women of the XR group held signs reading, “cant’ bare the truth” and chained themselves around their necks. Sarah Mintram, a teacher and XR spokesperson said that the scene was staged to grab the attention of the people who are neglecting the consequences of Mother Nature and the safety of the people for so long.

10 days demonstrations demanding actions from the British government to tackle climate change

Soon the police authorities came down to move them away from the parliament gate.

The extreme steps are taken to demonstrate the protests show how frustrated activists are with the current situation. With the global temperature increasing Global south has already started to suffer dire consequences.

Icebergs are melting and the water level in the oceans is drastically rising. The whole world is facing consequences for the ignorant ways mankind had lived so far. It is predicted that the rise in temperature by the end of the century will make many countries uninhabitable to live in the near future.

And despite these warnings, the government fails to meet the net-zero greenhouse gas emission target set for 2050.
