Leading indie band Arctic Monkeys have joined forces with the UK’s principal youth homelessness charity in order to further raise awareness and encourage change.
Centrepoint is a recognised charity that provides support for the homeless (specifically, young people aged 16-25). Arctic Monkeys have teamed up with the organisation to auction 12 limited edition exhibition prints.
The items are framed and signed by both the band and photographer Zackery Michael. The images are previously unseen pictures of the band members which were taken during exclusive photo-shoots.
The set of images were taken between November 2017 and August 2018. It includes the documentation of the making of their 6th album, ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’.
Band members Alex Turner, Jamie Cook, Nick O’Malley and Matt Helders have been captured with a great creativity and keen sense of detail by the talented Zackery Michael, who wanted to get across the band’s camaraderie.
“They are more than the Arctic Monkeys to me,” Zackery commented. “These four gentlemen from Yorkshire are my friends. The images exhibited are a very honest portrayal of that friendship.”
The auction has been developed to promote the works of Centrepoint, who provides assistance to over 10,000 homeless young people on an annual basis across the areas of London, Manchester, Yorkshire and Sunderland.
The work of the charity is extensive; Centrepoint helps young people not just by providing them with a safe form of accommodation but also by prompting them to transform their lives with necessary life skills and considering education and employment options.
