Appreciate Nature During National Parks Week

Summer 2018 has been a rollercoaster so far, and this month certainly hasn’t held back on the degrees outside. But as temperatures are finally calming down for a more subdued end of July, it’s time to get out your hiking boots and appreciate National Parks Week!
Taking place between 22 and 29 July this year, this family festival celebrates all that is beautiful and unique about the UK’s national parks. This annual series of events aims to bring attention to the vast array of options we have to appreciate nature.
From treasure trails and seaside safaris to guided forest walks and local food and drinks, there is something for someone all over the country.
Exmoor National Park will be hosting its very own Evening Deer Search on the 24 July, where you can help locate the ever-elusive Red Deer of Exmoor.
If you are around Yorkshire and like squirrels, why not check out the Secret Squirrel at Yorkshire Dales National Park from 14.30 to 16.00? The event consists of a nice stroll through the woodland, while you will be taught how to find red squirrels. Check out blog.yorkshiredales.org.uk.
If treasure hunting sounds more interesting, the North York Moors National Park will be hosting its very own Geocaching Treasure Hunt on Thursday 26 July. Starting at 10.30, you can search for clues through the park to find goodies.
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is accommodating runners and joggers to deliver the Balloch Run ‘n’ Park on Saturday 28 July. The options are a 2k and a 5k run, and no registration is needed so you can turn up at any time on the day!
For more options visit the website of the festival here.
