Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) has shared the beauty routine of her iconic signature red lip on Vogues Youtube channel. The video of the Congresswoman has over 1.7 million views and has been shared countlessly on social media.
AOC is the youngest Congresswoman ever who is known for her fiery remarks in politics and vast social media presence.
The Democrat takes 20 minutes to share her skincare routine before applying her everyday makeup while talking through her busy schedule.
She also talks about the difficulties of being a woman in politics: “As the youngest woman in congress and a woman of color, it’s so hard to be taken seriously. It feels like you have to jump up and down for anyone to listen, it’s just really difficult.”
AOC has had instances of sexism thrown at her during her politics career. Just last month she had Rep. Ted Yoho made a sexist comment towards her saying she was ‘crazy’ ‘disgusting’ and ‘dangerous.’ The interaction finished with him yelling obscenities at her. AOC then went on to make a powerful speech in Congress about sexism in politics.
The Congresswoman finished her Vogue video showing off her finished makeup look. She ended on a positive note saying: “If you need a little boost, or you’re feeling particularly challenged that day, look in the mirror and say: ‘I’m the bomb and I will make the world a better place.’”
