With Halloween right across the corner, it is the perfect time to indulge in some good supernatural books. This week we bring you five new ghost stories to read on a cold night beside the fireplace with a cozy blanket!

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson ****

This ghost storybook depicts the story of 4 seekers who go on to visit a rumored haunted house called Hill House. Dr. Montague is an occult scholar who is looking for evidence that the house is actually haunted. Theodora is a light-hearted soul who sore to be his assistance in this ordeal journey. We also have a character name, Luke and Eleanor. As they embark to explore the remains of the hill house, they witness inexplicable phenomena and horror.

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski *****

This Occult ghost storybook depicts the life of a young family who moves into a small home on Ash Tree Lane. A famous photojournalist named Will and his companion Karen green with their two children soon discovers that their house is bigger on the inside than the outside. Soon things take a dark turn when the children go missing in an abyss behind a closet door. Darkness creeps into their dreams as they hear unholy growls tearing through their walls.

A head full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay ****

The story depicts the life of Barrett’s family who lived in a quiet suburban New England town. The family is torn apart when their teenage daughter Marjorie begins to display signs of acute schizophrenia. The doctors are unable to stop Marjorie and soon they discover that their home is haunted. They turn to a Catholic priest for help who suggests an exorcism. The events in the Barrett household turns into a tragedy.

Fangs by Sarah Andersen ****

The creator of Sarah’s scribbles comics brings you a story of a Vampire and Werewolf falling in love. Elsie is over 300 hundred years old. One night she meets Jimmy at a bar. As they slowly start to know one another, they realized that they are their best chances to live a normal life. They share their insecurities, secrets from the different worlds, and adapt to each other’s monstrous appetites. The author gives a new humorous twist to this tale that we might be familiar with before. But trust me it is not.

The Hollow Place by T. Kingfisher ***

Written by the author of “innovative, unexpected and absolutely chilling”, the novel depicts the story of a young woman named Kara. Kara has been recently divorced and now she spends her time solving cryptic words. She comes across a bunker at her uncle’s place and discovers portals to countless alternative realities. Strange creatures lurks in these places that feed on her thoughts. The book is compelling, strange and one you can not put down before finishing.
