5 Ways To Protect Yourself From Covid-19

With the spread of the Covid-19 virus, commonly known as coronavirus, across the globe, there is a lot of misinformation being shared which is adding to the panic. In times like these it’s best to refer to sites such as the World Health Organization for guidelines on how to stay healthy. While there should be a guideline for health safety specific to Bangladeshi institutions and individuals, for now it’s essential to know the basics to make sure you’re safe and so are the people around you. As students and academic institutions are most at risk of contracting or spreading infection, we at What’s on are providing a basic checklist to ensure public safety.

⮞Wear masks in public spaces, especially buses and classrooms. You’re at a higher risk of infection in cramped spaces. If you need to cough, make sure to cough into your elbow and not into your hands.

⮞ Wash hands frequently. You need to spend 40-60 seconds on the process. When turning off faucet after you’re done, use a paper towel.

⮞ Maintain a distance of 3 feet with people, especially those showing symptoms (coughing, feverish and complaining of sore throat).

⮞ Keep the surfaces of your most used gadgets (phone surfaces and laptop keyboards) as clean as possible.

⮞ Finally, if you’re feeling feverish and sick, it’s alright to go into self quarantine. Inform your employer/teacher that you are ill and avoid crowded spaces.

It’s good to not panic under the circumstances, but it is also important to be vigilant. You can do this by following the WHO on Instagram as they regularly post updates in small, digestible pieces on their Instagram platform.
