5 Relaxing Ways To Spend Your Weekend

As most of the working population now work from home, the lines between our private and professional lives are blurred and the stress from our jobs is more likely to follow us into the weekend. Which is why it’s now more important than ever to practice gratitude for our jobs, our safety and our families, and make plans for fun weekends.

So unplug yourself from your phone, snuggle into some soft socks and try out a few of the following this weekend:

1. If you’ve got chores to do, they don’t have to be done with the news on in the background. Go for some classical music, or any of the many YouTube chill-hop playlists, open up your windows and practice mindfulness as you tackle the laundry or vacuuming.

2. Make use of any outdoorsy space you have in your home during the day. Sit near your biggest window or on your balcony or even at your open front door with a cold drink and soak up the summer sunshine.

3. Try out fun recipes you never had time for before. Lots of helpful chefs are taking to social media to help out people with recipes made of ingredients commonly found in the pantry, to encourage minimal waste cooking. It’s a practice that can be of great benefit even when things get back to normal.

4. Watch sketchbook tours or painting tutorials on YouTube. Artists like Kelogsloops and Leigh Ellexson have amazing videos of them painting that are just so relaxing to watch!

5. And finally, do something silly! Break out the karaoke machine, do a funny makeup routine, watch tutorials on how to make slime, paint a portrait of yourself on your mug with Sharpie markers, learn to finally do a handstand. Maybe even do all these on video with your friends and family and share a laugh together.

It’s easy to get lost in worry and feel alone or helpless during this crisis. But it’s also good to let a little silliness into our lives to remind ourselves that we will make it out of this. Here’s to a relaxing, silly, laughter filled weekend!
