5 reasons to be hopeful about the COVID-19 Vaccines in 2021

COVID-19 has taken the lives of over 100,000 people in the UK. The numbers have been staggering with the news of the new strain that has proven to be more infectious.

The recent good news of the Pfizer Vaccine has been tarnished over the concerns for the NHS which is on the verge of collapsing and the death toll rising rapidly across the nation. But there are a few reasons to be optimistic this year with the Covid-19 vaccines on the picture.

Here are five reasons to be optimistic about 2021, a year in which we can bring COVID-19 under control if not completely eliminate it:

1. Lawmakers pledge to return to normality

Many Lawmakers, politicians, and campaigners are predicting to bring the COVID-19 in total control by the first half of 2021. Chancellor Rishi Sunak wrote that he foresees an end to the coronavirus restrictions and is very optimistic for things to go back to normal by the end of February.

He said “we can now see light at the end of the tunnel with this pandemic”.

2. Thousands have received the Pfizer Vaccine

Over 6.3 million people in the UK have received the first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine. They are expanding their mass vaccination programme in 32 new Centres which was previously in only seven areas across England.

Progress in being made to protect the most vulnerable from the COVID.

3. Vaccines might work against the new strain

Most of the vaccines for the COVID-19 has been under production before the new strain of the virus came in. So it is a matter of concern whether the vaccine will be effective against the new strain.

AstraZeneca/ Oxford chief executive, Pascal Soriot has reported that the vaccine that his company produced “should remain effective” against the new strain of COVID-19 which is currently rampaging across the UK.

4. Vaccines are proven to be effective after 2 doses

AstraZeneca chief Executive, Pascal has also said that the vaccines have a “winning formula” to help end the Coronavirus crisis.

Although the AstraZeneca has been proven to be 60% effective, after the completion of two doses, the vaccine is reported to be as effective as its competitors such as Pfizer.

AstraZeneca Vaccines can also be stored easily which can lead to faster rollouts.

5. Vaccines will be available to millions by February

The AstraZeneca/ Oxford Vaccines have been rolled out in masses in the first few days of 2021. It has reached developing nations all around the globe. Mass Vaccination programs are being carried out as we speak, with the possibilities to put an end to the Covid-19 virus.

However, we must not forget the continuing threat of the virus on the vulnerable. We have to continue to abide by social distancing guidelines and use masks on public till the end of next year.
