Parasite wins Best Picture Award

The South Korean thriller film Parasite has owned the top position at Academy Awards in Hollywood, on Sunday night and the film has created history by winning in the best original screenplay category as it is the first-ever foreign-language film to win Best Picture.

The triumph has marked a South Korean film by Bong Joon Ho’ which is not even in English, for the first time and the film has owned awards for best director, best international film and best screenplay.

Competing the favorite movie “1917”, Parasite has become the first foreign-language film to ever win Best Picture in the 92-year history of the Oscars. Before this 11 other movies were nominated Oscars history. “Parasite” was also the first South Korean movie to be nominated for Best Picture.

“Parasite” competed the film like Joker, Ford v Ferrari, The Irishman, Marriage Story, Little Women, 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Jojo Rabbit in the process.

The cast of the film wasn’t recognized individually but they were awarded the SAG award for Best Performance by an Ensemble Cast in a film.

“The most personal is the most creative”, said Bong to show respect to Scorsese and also added, “he carved deep into my heart”.

The awards are a reminder for Bong, to audiences that international films are important to discover and devour.
