Oprah Winfrey is going to produce a new documentary focusing on sexual abasement in the music industry which will be streaming on Apple TV+.
Setting the arrival date next year, the documentary will be produced by the Oscar-nominated filmmakers Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering, Apple TV+, Winfrey on board as producer.
Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering are best known for “The Invisible War” and “The Hunting Ground” which are also based on sexual assault on college campuses. Dick’s 2004 film ‘Twist of Faith’ also told the story of a man who recounts the abuse he suffered at the hands of a Catholic priest as a teenager.
Oprah announced the news via a press release on Tuesday and said, “the film will be a profound examination of race, gender, class and intersectionality, and the toll assaults take on their victims and society at large.”
Oprah Winfrey has been an advocate for sexually abused and a vocal supporter of the #MeToo and Time’s Up movement.
“The film centers on a former music executive who grapples with whether to go public with her story of assault and abuse by a notable figure in the music industry,” Oprah said in the press release.
The untitled documentary will be produced by Dick and Ziering’s Jane Doe Films, Terry Wood, Dan Cogan, Regina K. Scully, Lan Darling and Abigail Disney who will work as executive producers.
