An attack in Coatzacoalcos bar in Mexico’s Gulf coast city, the state of Veracruz on Tuesday has killed 23 people, including 13 injured.
Killing 8 women and 15 men the attackers began a fire that ripped through the bar.
The fottage of the scene showed tables and chairs disordered, apparently as people tried to flee.
“In Veracruz, criminal gangs are no longer tolerated,” said Cuitláhuac García, the state governor.
“The devious crime of a few moments ago in Coatzacoalcos will not go unpunished,” said the governor of Veracruz state in a tweet.
The first reports suggest that the fire was caused by an attack with Molotov bombs while some local media point out that shots were also recorded inside the bar ‘The White Horse’
The Zetas drug cartel staged that 2011 attack to enforce demands for protection payments. It came almost eight years to the day after a fire at a casino in the northern city of Monterrey killed 52 people.
Veracruz is one of the most brutal areas of Mexico. Medication dealing courses to the United States go through it, and grisly fights oftentimes emit between adversary medication packs.
The state prosecutor’s office said the investigation is going on.
