R. Kelly in Custody: Sex Trafficking Charge

American singer, songwriter, record producer, and former professional basketball player Robert Sylvester Kelly known as R. Kelly is in custody after being charged on sex trafficking, said a spokesman for the US Attorneys office.

The singer has been charged with 13 counts including sex crimes, child pornography and obstruction of justice by the NYPD detectives and Homeland Security investigators.

Confirming the news of his getting arrested on a 13-count indictment Joseph D Fitzpatrick, spokesperson for the US Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Illinois said, “The indictment includes charges of child pornography, enticement of a minor, and obstruction of justice.”

The singer formerly pleaded not responsible to the first series of allegations, for which he became bailed on a $1 million bond. Kelly confronted similar costs in 2000 when he was charged with taking part in infant pornography after a video surfaced allegedly displaying him having sex with an underage woman.

The R&B singer was acquitted in 2008 of child pornography charges stemming from a videotape that allegedly showed Kelly engaging in sex acts with a 13-year-old girl.

Kelly also faced charge in Chicago back in June, where he pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of sexual assault, which were brought against him on 30 May following documentary Surviving R Kelly.

Kelly had allegations of four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and two counts of criminal sexual assault.
