Shift of UN Biodiversity Summit- China to Canada

UN Summit shifts from China to Canada, concerning China’s strict policy for anti-corona virus. United Nations Biodiversity Summit was scheduled to happen in China, but the organizers on Tuesday declared that the location has shifted to Canada. China has withdrawn its post as a host of Soccer’s 2023 Asian Cup, last month. It has also postponed the Asian Games of 2022, which was scheduled in September, in the city of Hangzhou, due to its zero covid policy.

UN Biodiversity Summit Shift


China’s environment ministry confirmed that the Biological Diversity Summit will happen in Montreal, Canada. China is selected as the chairperson of this meeting but in order to keep covid-19 at bay, as elsewhere the whole world is suffering through this ongoing pandemic. China does not want any uncertainties in their own country due to this global pandemic.


China has been very strict in maintaining the strict policy under its zero covid policy and thus its it limits international visitors to visit China. China has also locked access in many parts of its cities or all of its cities in order to curtail out any outbreak of the existing pandemic. This decision taken by China is parallel with many other cities who have lifted their restrictions imposed for Covid-19 and decided of existing a living along with the virus, following primary care and some laid down concerns.


This Biodiversity Summit is also known as UN Climate Summit, where the countries which have joined hands to preserve the world’s animal and plant species as a global consensus. The countries meet on a regular basis to achieve their ends upon protecting nature and various other species living within it. China’s Environment Ministry along with UN’s Secretariat have mentioned that China will continue to upheld its position as a president in the upcoming with its theme and logo remaining intact.
