There’s a level of predictability about ‘Baari’ that rather lets the quality of the musicianship down a bit. Mixing a more traditional vibe, which dominates, with modern day production and timing was always going to be a bit of a risk regardless of the artist. Here you feel there’s not quite enough of a contemporary vibe to carry this set of songs without staleness setting in. It’s a shame because on occasion ‘Baari’ really does get going nicely, but then it just stops short of where you want it to go. A case of close but no cigar for Mangat and Ahktar.
