Sicario: Day of the Soldado is an upcoming American action crime thriller film directed by Stefano Sollima and written by Taylor Sheridan. Outside of North America it will be released as Sicario 2: Soldado or solely Soldado, the sequel to the 2015 film Sicario. The film is set to be released in the United States by Sony Pictures Releasing under its Columbia Pictures label while internationally released by Lionsgate on June 29, 2018.
The plot begins with a the drug war at the US – Moexic border as it has escalated to the point where the cartels have begun transporting terrorists. In the drug war, there are no rules and as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) calls on the mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin, to escalate the war in nefarious ways. Alejandro kidnaps the kingpin’s daughter to inflame the conflict, but when the girl is seen as collateral damage, her fate will come between the two men as they question everything they are fighting for.
