1917

Cast: Dean-Charles Chapman, George MacKay, Daniel Mays, Colin Firth and more.

Sam Mendes’ war epic takes us back to the horrors of the Great War, with a style that truly captures the danger and constant threat soldiers faced on the front lines. With a series of long shots that seamlessly flow into one another, the amount of choreography and attention to detail that details scenes is impressive and paired with extremely evocative landscapes and dominating visuals. Focused on two soldiers who are given an extremely important message to deliver and the journey they need to take to cross the frontlines to get it done, a strong cast of main and supporting actors with some big name. With strong amounts of drama and constant action, 1917 will always have you tension and action that one can expect from a war epic, but at times can feel like a tour of huge visual set pieces sometimes.
